Frequently asked questions

Is it necessary to buy tickets for the Nerja Caves in advance?

Yes, daily capacity is strictly limited for conservation reasons. Booking online in advance guarantees your specific time slot and prevents you from being turned away at the entrance.

Can online tickets be cancelled or rescheduled?

Yes, when you purchase official tickets via our links, you benefit from completely free and flexible cancellation up to 24 hours before your visit.

Is it cheaper to buy tickets online or at the box office?

Booking online is the smartest and most economical option, as you avoid the extra fees for in-person processing charged at the monument's ticket office.

What does the digital cave ticket include?

Your digital ticket includes skip-the-line access to the main galleries open to the public, a multilingual audio guide downloadable to your mobile phone, and admission to the Nerja Museum.

What clothing and footwear are recommended for the visit?

Wearing comfortable, closed-toe shoes with non-slip soles (due to the dampness) is essential. The temperature inside remains a constant 19°C year-round, so a light jacket is ideal.

Do I need to print the reservation, or can I just show it on my mobile?

There is no need to print anything on paper. When you book online, you will receive a QR code directly on your mobile phone that you can show at the site's access points.

Can children of any age visit the Nerja Caves?

Yes, children of any age may enter the site. Children under the age of 6 enjoy free admission; however, you must book their free ticket online alongside the adults' tickets to manage visitor capacity. Please note that baby strollers are not permitted inside for safety reasons, so using a baby carrier during the tour is recommended.

Is the Nerja Cave accessible to people with reduced mobility or wheelchair users?

It is not fully accessible. Due to its natural layout, the tourist route includes over 450 steps and changes in elevation, making it impossible to complete the full tour in a wheelchair or with a walker. However, visitors with reduced mobility can access a specially adapted area in the first chamber (the Entrance Gallery) free of charge to enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the cave.

Does the visit to the Nerja Caves cause claustrophobia?

No, generally it does not cause claustrophobia. Unlike other narrow caverns, the Nerja Caves stand out for the immense size of their galleries and ceilings up to 30 meters high. The tourist paths are beautifully lit, very wide, and have towering ceilings that create a great sense of open space, making it a comfortable and very safe visit for everyone.

Can I leave the cave earlier if needed during the tour?

Yes, you can leave the tour early if you feel unwell or need to. Along the indoor tourist path, there are park staff and uniformed rangers you can approach; they will guide you to the nearest emergency exit and accompany you outside quickly and safely.
