Overview

As you walk through the gates of Bioparc Fuengirola, you’ll leave the Costa del Sol behind and step into a real-life documentary

What can you expect to find at Bioparc Fuengirola? A journey through the world’s rainforests

As you walk through the gates of Bioparc Fuengirola, you’ll leave the Costa del Sol behind and step into a real-life nature documentary. This urban park is famous for its ‘immersive zoo’ concept, which means you’ll wander through meticulously recreated tropical rainforests where the animals live in spaces without visible bars or cages, separated from the public by rivers, bridges and rocks.

As you follow the easy, shaded path through the lush vegetation, you’ll discover four major themed areas home to some of the planet’s most fascinating and endangered species:

• Madagascar and Lemur Island: This is one of the most magical areas. You’ll be able to walk literally right into their habitat, without any barriers, whilst these friendly and curious primates leap from branch to branch all around you. You’ll also see the impressive recreation of a gigantic baobab tree.

• Equatorial Africa: Venture into the heart of the African continent to get a close-up view of the majestic coastal gorillas, elusive leopards, chimpanzees and the striking pygmy hippos. All this is set amidst waterfalls and dense tropical forests.

• South-East Asia and the Indo-Pacific Islands: A setting that recreates ruined temples swallowed up by the jungle. Here lies the park’s main attraction: the majestic Sumatran tiger. You’ll also be able to see the surprising mouse deer, gibbons and the gigantic Komodo dragon up close.

• Central and South America: The park’s newest habitat, where you’ll cross an Amazonian river to discover the wildlife of the New World, from tiny marmosets to exotic, brightly coloured birds.

Free-roaming wildlife and live displays

One of the most pleasant surprises at Bioparc is that not all the wildlife is kept in enclosed enclosures. During your walk, it’s very common to come across peacocks and other exotic birds roaming freely amongst the vegetation along the paths, offering unforgettable moments and spectacular photo opportunities.

In addition, the park offers re-enactments of hunting and tree-dwelling behaviour in its amphitheatre, where you can watch large birds of prey fly just a few centimetres above your head. A comfortable, educational and fascinating experience lasting around 3 or 4 hours, ideal for the whole family.

Good to know before booking

  • We recommend wearing comfortable shoes for the walk.
