Overview
DISCOVER SELWO AVENTURA: A WILD EXPLORATION IN ESTEPONA
Selwo Aventura is not a conventional zoo; it is a vast open-air area covering more than 100 hectares, designed to recreate the planet’s major ecosystems, particularly the landscapes of the African savannah and forests. The animals live in semi-wild conditions, grouped together in vast grasslands and valleys that respect their natural behaviour and promote their wellbeing.
The visit is designed as a genuine expedition, divided into different areas connected by nature trails and spectacular adventure facilities.
The park is home to more than 2,000 animals representing some 200 different species from all over the world. As you make your way through the park, you’ll explore their specific habitats:
The African Savannah: This is the heart of the park. Here, on the vast plains, the continent’s most iconic animals live side by side, such as the majestic African lion, the Angolan giraffe, the imposing white rhinoceros and swift cheetahs. You’ll also see herds of zebras, hippos and ostriches sharing the same environment.
The Land of the Big Mammals: Selwo is home to Kanvar, the only Asian elephant born in Spain, who lives in a spacious, specially adapted enclosure. You’ll also be able to observe the imposing European bison and lynx at close quarters.
The Central Village and Primates: The high, wooded areas are home to various species of Asian and African primates, such as the white-handed gibbon and the ring-tailed lemur, known for their agility and complex social structures.
Birds and Reptiles: The park features an impressive natural canyon that has been transformed into a large floating aviary where exotic species such as sacred ibises, toucans and crowned cranes fly freely. In the Bird Canyon and the reptile area, you can also spot caimans and constrictor snakes.
ACTIVITIES AND EXPERIENCES WITHIN THE PARK
The Selwo Aventura experience combines wildlife viewing with dynamic activities that add adrenaline and learning to your visit:
‘Meet the…’ Educational Talks: Throughout the day, the park’s team of keepers and biologists hold short sessions next to the habitats of the lions, elephants, cheetahs and rhinos. During these talks, they explain in an engaging way the interesting facts about each species, the threats they face in the wild and how they work daily to ensure their conservation.
Birds of Prey Display: In the park’s amphitheatre, a free-flight display takes place where eagles, falcons, vultures and owls showcase their incredible hunting and gliding skills, whilst explaining the ecological importance of these predators.
The Suspension Bridges Trail: To move between the different valleys and areas, you’ll cross impressive rope and wooden suspension bridges suspended high above the park’s lakes and rivers, offering a unique aerial and photographic perspective of the animals.
EXCLUSIVE ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES (PAYABLE DIRECTLY AT THE PARK)
Serengeti Safari: One of the most sought-after activities. It consists of a tour through the heart of the vast savannah reserve aboard an open-top off-road vehicle. It allows you to venture safely into the habitat of giraffes, hippos and zebras, giving you the chance to see them from just a few centimetres away and even take part in a guided feeding session.
Ziwa Zip Line: A spectacular, extra-long fixed zip line that safely spans the length of the Great Selwo Lake from one end to the other. It’s perfect for gliding at high speed whilst enjoying panoramic views of the entire natural landscape around Estepona.
Digital tickets are valid only for the exact date you select on the calendar during the booking process.
